Timers on outside lights

Trying to get the outside lights (whether the coach lamps by the main doors or car park lamps) switching on and off all at the same time has been an ongoing issue over many years. It has necessitated manual changes in line with spring and autumn adjustments to the timing clocks and has been exacerbated this year when following the COVID-19 lockdown, the electricians were unable to enter the buildings and meter cupboards. However, in conjunction with Trinity Factors we appointed Boyle Energy to install astronomical time clocks to replace all the old timers throughout Caledonian Village on Monday 12th October.

Once fitted, these astronomical time clocks work by fixing their location (latitude and longitude) and automatically adjusting timings throughout the year to account for the gradual changes in sunrise and sunset times, thereby preventing the need for manual adjustments. To save costs we have also instructed Boyle Energy to replace all coach lamp bulbs with LEDs, and in due course we also aim to install LED bulbs within the car park lamps.

The cost for this work will be met by owners from the General Repairs budget. It will be charged out according to the number of flats in each block with an appropriate small charge for those properties which do not have a timer currently but still need to share in the cost for the car park lamps.
